Getting Started Guide

How To Use Eternal Light

Eternal Light is a calm Christian prayer and reflection app designed to help you begin prayer quickly, choose a prayer topic that fits your present need, listen to spoken prayer, spend time in quiet focus, and save reflections for later.

This guide was prepared from the app source and UI structure. It is ready for GitHub Pages now and can be updated later with real screenshots.

Quick Navigation

1. Welcome

Start screen and first prayer

When you open Eternal Light, you first see the welcome screen with the app title, a devotional background, and a main button to begin prayer. This screen is meant to feel peaceful and uncluttered.

  • Tap Begin Prayer to enter the main app.
  • The app then opens the main tab experience.
  • The bottom navigation gives quick access to prayer, journal, progress, and settings.

2. Home

Home tab and prayer choices

The prayer entry flow centers on choosing what you want prayer for. Eternal Light presents a list of core prayer circumstances as easy-to-tap rounded buttons.

Use this screen when you already know what kind of prayer you want.

3. Guided Prayer

Prayer screen and audio controls

After selecting a circumstance, Eternal Light opens the prayer screen. This screen combines a scripture anchor, the prayer title, the prayer text itself, and a reflection area.

  • Read the prayer at your own pace.
  • Use spoken playback to listen to the prayer aloud.
  • Refresh or request another prayer when available.
  • Save the moment into your journal for later reflection.

The app also keeps recent prayer titles and openings in mind to reduce repetitive results when live generation is available.

4. Guided Choice

Random guided prayer flow

If you are not sure which prayer topic to choose, use the special button at the bottom of the circumstances screen. In your current app logic, this option randomly selects one of the available prayer topics and takes you directly to the prayer page.

This is ideal for moments when you simply want to be guided instead of browsing categories manually.

Suggested future label for this feature: Let the Holy Spirit Guide Me. That wording fits the devotional tone better while still matching what the feature does.

5. Quiet Prayer

Quiet prayer focus mode

Focus mode is built for a few undistracted minutes of quiet prayer. It keeps the screen awake, shows a prayer countdown, and supports a slower rhythm for silence and stillness.

  • Choose your quiet prayer duration in Settings.
  • Start focus mode when you want a countdown-based quiet prayer session.
  • Pause, resume, or finish the session when needed.
  • Completed sessions can count toward your prayer progress.

6. Journal

Journal and saved reflections

The Journal tab lets you keep short written reflections based on your latest prayer. When a prayer is open, the app can prefill a reflection draft using the prayer title, verse reference, and excerpt.

  • Save reflections that stood out to you.
  • Edit an existing journal entry if you want to refine your thoughts.
  • Delete entries you no longer want to keep.
  • Clear all journal entries from Settings if needed.

Journal entries are stored on the device for normal use.

7. Progress

Progress, streaks, and goals

The Progress tab helps you stay encouraged over time. Eternal Light tracks prayer activity such as streaks, completed sessions this week, and total minutes prayed.

Progress item What it means
Prayer streak How many consecutive days you have maintained prayer activity.
Completed this week How many recorded prayer sessions you completed during the current week.
Total minutes prayed The accumulated quiet prayer time recorded in the app.
Goals Targets such as consistency and quiet prayer minutes.

8. Settings

Settings and reminders

Settings lets you shape the app around your prayer style and preferences.

Prayer preferences

  • Language preference
  • Denomination preference
  • Prayer tone
  • Quiet prayer duration

Audio and reminders

  • Voice selection
  • Speech speed
  • Daily prayer reminders
  • Journal management

Reminders use notification permission on your device. If reminders are turned off, the app should not schedule daily prayer notifications.

9. Spoken Prayer

Voice playback and listening

Eternal Light includes spoken prayer playback so you can listen instead of reading. This can be especially helpful for quiet prayer, nighttime use, or moments when you want a more contemplative pace.

  • Preview voices in Settings.
  • Choose a preferred voice or leave it on automatic selection.
  • Adjust speech speed to make playback slower or faster.
  • Stop or pause listening when you want to continue silently.

10. Languages

Supported languages

Based on the source, Eternal Light supports multiple interface and prayer languages:

English Spanish French

You can follow the device language automatically or choose a supported language manually in Settings.
